Artist Profile:
Mizuhiki and silk thread accessory artist
Primarily active in mizuhiki craft workshops.
Also creates accessories using silk thread wrapped around wooden beads.
Currently training in Kaga finger-ring making.

Using dyed mizuhiki, I create works themed around flowers and the changing seasons of nature. I also express mizuhiki not only as a material for "tying" but as the lustrous appearance of flowers created by wrapping it with silk thread.

Mizuhiki is originally meant to tie the bonds and feelings between people. By adding the handwork of "wrapping" it with thread, I wanted to express not only the act of tying, but also the lustrous beauty of flowers born from the layering of threads, and the life within their fragility.
I also use plant-dyed threads.

I felt that the hydrangea gradient, where the colors of the natural world blend together, could only express such transitions through dyed mizuhiki.
While I also use commercially available mizuhiki, the gradients are created using mizuhiki dyed with purple root, indigo, and Japanese knotweed.

I hope you can feel the worldview of Cocoyui's handwork born from mizuhiki and threads imbued with the life of plants.
