I create fictional portraits, depicting "someone, somewhere, just like you."
These portraits are formed by the traces of people I have encountered in reality.
Even if I start by drawing a single face, as my hand moves,
the memories of various expressions and ways of life blend together, layering the visages of many people, not just one.
Because it is not any one person, yet it could be anyone
everyone should be able to find themselves or someone they know within these works.
I hope there will be a moment when the viewer feels, "I feel like I know this person."
About the work:
The word "araremonai" (helpless/undeserved)
brings to mind falling snow pellets and sweets.
I will gently take your hand so you are not broken,
and sing a song like a blooming flower.
